New York is cool, we don't need to tell you that. It's a vibrant, creative, full on experience of the senses that continues to push boundaries. This is something we strive to do ourselves and it's the idea behind our Play with Possibility concept.
Recently some of the team were in NYC for some inspiration and fact finding. While there were some great window and graphic displays, one of the most exciting things we kept coming across was the street art.
You can see the influence of famous NYC cultural icons and artists like Basquiat, Robert Rauschenberg, Keith Haring and Grace Jones throughout.
Great street art inspires great commercial design. We can think of at least a couple of projects we have been involved with in the fashion industry.
The first is our work for the Oasis fashion brand and their collaboration with illustrator Milly Jackson for the Oasis Spring Summer 2016 collection. Milly created a line drawn illustration that we reproduced and applied to Oasis flagship store windows throughout the country. Customers were invited to colour the prints, creating unique pieces of high street art. The job went on to win The Graphical Tree a Gold for Best Window Graphic at the VM & Display Awards in London.
The second, a live piece for G-Star Raw and their collaboration with illustrator / artists Ben Tallon and Willkay. Both producing customised boards, supplied by us, and clothing as part of an in-store event.
If you need help putting your own inspiration out there give us a shout, in the mean time we'll leave the last word to NYC...
